We enter this world, a blank slate
Ready to take on whatever our fate
Life takes its toll
It’s not all rock and roll
Some of it can be quite droll.
We grow
We know
At times we sink quite low
We learn to love
And feel our hearts break
And grieve, and laugh and cry and fake
How we feel, put on a brave face.
We grow
We know
We live our lives in tow.
We raise families and win and lose friends
We work jobs, retire and then
We reach a stage, we lose independence,
We can’t make decisions become so dependent
On the humans, we brought into this world
To decide our future, no crystal ball.
Those humans,
They show
The love we need to know
Returning the favour, (we helped them grow)
They help us go.
